Very high velocity stability and positioning accuracy
|
BM 15 A BM 20 A Mineral casting RHENOCAST®
|
|
This inspection system is based on a vibration optimized Schneeberger RHENOCAST mineral cast structure which supports one lower axis (Y), one gantry system (X) and two vertical linear stages (Z). Very high velocity stability and positioning accuracy have been achieved through an optimal structure integrity and precision, perfect guiding systems (Schneeberger MONORAIL) and well-adapted motors, controllers and amplifiers.

At the beginning of the year 2002 our customer asked us for the development and the supply for positioning systems of the newest generation of FPD inspection machines. The good experiences which the company has made, in the context of the project Infinex, played here surely an important role.
At the beginning under hard competition of another supplier, SCHNEEBERGER applied for this order, which we also received in July 2002. Only 6 months later, briefly before Christmas 2002, we supplied the prototype.
Due to estimate the market situation, in particular with the final consumers of the screens, we counted on a large extent for further orders – and so it was. SCHNEEBERGER

Our supply covers the positioning system with the Rhenocast-basis, guideways, linear drives for XY with controller, and 2 Z-axes for the camera.
The interface is a Theta-axis, developed by the customer, and a table with air cushions to store the glass, also mounted by the customer. The X-axis is a portal-construction over it, that moves the Z-axes respectively the cameras in several steps crosswise over the width of the panel. |
With the size of the glasses the space requirement for the production and the costs grow. Our customer decided therefore to use 2 cameras at the same time with which the usable stroke of the Y-axis amounts to only half of the otherwise necessary. It means also a duplication of the test speed, because both panel-halves become scanned at the same time
Further important requirements: Strokes XY 1740x1350 mm, rigid structure for a stability (jitter) of 0.15 micrometers and a synchronization of 0.1% of the speed related to 1mm stroke. The system must work under clean room conditions. The accuracies of the axes are within the range of 20 to 30 micrometers on the entire stroke, but for smallest movements up to 8mm no deviations are permitted above 0.5 micrometers.

FPD Inspection systems are for SCHNEEBERGER a consistent step into the direction which our company is going for years: On the basis of the production of guideway components over the assembly of simple axes and complete positioning units this way leads us into a future where SCHNEEBERGER admits to build the integration of such components and assembly groups to high-complex systems with "Plug and Play"-style.
