The MONORAIL AMSD 4B is an integrated magneto-resistive measuring system for distance measurement based on the MONORAIL BM profile guideway with an incremental, digital interface. The AMSA 4B is the starting point for this product. The section rails are thus identical and are compatible with both AMSA 4B and AMSD 4B.
The AMSD 4B version has an incremental, digital interface and a range of reading head options that permit different resolutions and allow the system to be adapted to control systems with different input frequencies.
Frequently Asked Questions about the AMSD System from SCHNEEBERGER
Is a calibration required after installing an AMSD system?
After installing an AMSD system, the absolute position is available immediately after a reference run once the system is powered on.
Does the exact absolute position need to be reset when replacing components in the AMSD system?
When replacing read heads, slight deviations of up to a few tenths of a millimeter may occur. If more precise values are needed, adjustments to the control parameters should be made.
How does the output frequency relate to the travel speed in the AMSD system?
The AMSD system outputs the configured maximum frequency even when stationary. The control receiver must always be capable of receiving this maximum frequency.
Does the read head need to be aligned when installing the AMSD system?
Precise alignment of the read head is not necessary. It is sufficient to securely fasten it with the screws provided.
How does the signal period of 200 µm affect the measurement accuracy of the AMSD system?
The periodic deviation is less than 0.8 µm, ensuring high precision.
Can external fields from motors and rotary tables affect the scale of the AMSD system?
The scale of the AMSD system is protected within the rail. External fields are shielded by the construction of the rail and surrounding components, so no interference occurs.
What should be considered when using linear motors in the AMSD system?
It is recommended to mount the scale on the side opposite the linear motor to prevent magnetic fluxes from chips or tools from affecting the scale.
What are the installation requirements for the AMSD system?
Magnetic lifting tools should not be used when installing AMSD rails to avoid residual magnetism in the rail.
What accessories are compatible with the AMSD system?
All components from the MONORAIL MR and MONORAIL BM series are compatible with the AMSD system. However, it should be noted that sheet metal wipers are not included in the standard program.
